Independent laboratory testing confirms that the ATP Test (Kikkoman A3) provides detection of residues at levels much lower than other tests on the market. Using the residue from different food products, laboratory testing proved that A3 test resulted a digit higher than competitive products (relative light units-RLU). The variety of foods tested, the ATP Test (Kikkoman A3) showed a strong presence of residue while the competitive products produced test results below typical action levels. The ATP Test (Kikkoman A3) can reduce the risk of false negative.
Detection dynamic range and repeatability
During an independent evaluation study conducted by Food Safety Net Services, San Antonio, TX, the ATP Test (Kikkoman A3) was shown to have superior detection of ATP, ADP and AMP, and compared to three of the leading competitive ATP products. Separate solutions of ATP, ADP and AMP were prepared and 10-fold serial dilutions were carried out in Nuclease Free Water. Ten microliter aliquots were pipetted onto ten separate swabs, and RLUs were measured immediately on each of the devices.As can be seen in figure, the ATP Test (Kikkoman A3) showed superior detection of not only ATP but also ADP and AMP. On the other hand, three conventional ATP products showed below limit of detection of either ADP or AMP even at 10-12 mol (data not shown).
Detection - Kikkoman ATP test vs. Competitors
The ATP Test (Kikkoman A3) showed superior sensitivity and stability for detection of food residues compared to competitive ATP tests. ATP in meat, seafood, egg and fruit is decomposed into ADP and AMP during processing increasing levels of ADP and AMP. The ATP Test (Kikkoman A3) is, therefore, able to detect food residues where other products almost cannot detect.
The target foods were homogenized and diluted 100-fold, then aliquots of 10 µl of each dilution were pipetted onto the appropriate swabs and measured.
The ATP Test (Kikkoman A3) showed much higher performance consistency and lower variability than competitive products tested.
The Repeatability of Measurements
The Lumitester with LuciPac A3 swab demonstrated superior repeatability relative to competitors even at the low level of ATP (10-13 moles ATP/assay).
ATP detection was assessed for each device by pipetting 10 μL of the 10-8 M stock ATP solution (10-13 moles ATP/assay) onto the appropriate swabs (n=10)
Consistent - Storage Stability
The RLU of LuciPac A3 was decreased only 8% after extreme storage at 40ºC for 2 weeks.
Each device was stored at 4ºC and 40ºC respectively, the sample stored at 4ºC served as a control (100 RLU). 10 μL of the 10-7 M stock ATP solution (10-12 moles ATP/assay) was used for evaluations.
